Your tour begins at the Colosseum
Meet your guide and semi-private group near the base of Rome’s 2,000-year-old amphitheater. Your guide introduces the massive stone structure and the nearby Arch of Constantine. Learn how emperors used these grand monuments to show off their power to the people of Rome.
Enter the Colosseum through Gladiators Gate
Next, follow your guide through a mandatory security check before passing through the side entrance of the Colosseum, once used by the gladiators themselves. Then, step onto the exclusive arena floor, the stage level of the Colosseum. Standing on the wooden floor, look up at the rows of seats and imagine the roar of 50,000 spectators watching the games.
Explore the upper tiers
Then, your guide leads you to the higher levels of the amphitheater for the audience perspective and an overhead view of the maze of underground chambers. From these tiers, learn how different social classes were seated in ancient Rome and where the most important leaders sat to watch.
Visit the Roman Forum
Follow your guide into the valley that served as the busy center of the ancient city. Walk past the remains of the Senate House and the Temple of the Vestal Virgins while hearing stories about the daily lives and politics of ancient Roman citizens.
Ascend the Palatine Hill

Your tour finishes at the Palatine Hill

Good to know:
Dress Code: Comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes are recommended, as you’ll be walking on uneven terrain.
Accessibility: Due to uneven terrain and historic surfaces, this tour isn’t suitable for wheelchairs or strollers. A soft baby carrier is recommended, and if you expect to need elevator access at the Colosseum, please let us know in advance so your guide can prepare. You may also like to consider joining our Private Colosseum Tour.
ID Requirement: A valid government-issued ID is required to enter the Colosseum. The name on your ticket must match your ID or entry may be denied.
Tour Changes: Depending on the assigned entry time for the Colosseum, your tour might enter the Roman Forum first and end in the Colosseum. It is also possible this tour might run in reverse. Either way, you’ll enjoy the full experience with your guide.
Children: All visitors, regardless of age, need a ticket for the Colosseum. Each child’s ticket must match their government-issued ID. Passports are recommended.
Disability certification: Visitors with valid disability certification are eligible for a reduced €2 entry ticket to the Colosseum, which also applies to one companion. Contact us after booking to arrange this. This applies to the ticket cost only, not the tour price.
Lines: This tour includes group access to the Colosseum, allowing you to skip the main lines for individual visitors. You’ll still pass through a security check before entering, which may involve a short wait.
Closures: Sometimes the Colosseum closes access to the more restricted areas with little notice. This usually happens in cases of heavy rainfall or an emergency repair. If this happens, we will visit other areas of the Colosseum, and the tour will continue with the same duration.
Bag Policy: For quicker entry, please leave large backpacks and wheeled bags at your accommodation as they aren’t permitted inside the Colosseum. All bags will be screened at security.
Check-in: Please arrive 15 minutes early so your group can enter right on time and make the most of your visit.

Our knowledgeable guide provided a nicely paced tour through the Forum, Palantine Hill and then the Colosseum where the floor tour was amazing. Definitely worth considering if you don't want to spend your tour queued in lines.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and paced everything perfectly. He started with Palantine Hill and then the Roman Forum, then circling back to the Colosseum. At first I didn't see the reasoning until I saw the lines for both of the first two places as we headed away from them and back to the Coliseum. It was then I understood his logic and appreciated his experience! This history and archeology were incredible.

Our tour guide Marco was amazing. He was informative, sharing the truths and Hollywood version of Ancient Rome. He navigate thru the changing weather moving us along always keeping our safety first. Gave us plenty of time to take pics before moving to our next stop in the tour as well as knowing where to get the best pics. We had a couple of challenging tourists in our group who selflessly held us up on one stop —- Marco handled it professionally as well with courtesy. Way better than I would have. Marco is a outstanding tour guide and huge asset to your team.

This tour was outstanding and everything happened just as we were told and expected. What we didn't expect was perhaps the best tour guide we've ever had - Eddy! This tour guide is working on his PHd in Archeology and has been giving this tour for several years. His complete mastery of the Colosseum, the surrounding historical sights and Roman history was amazing. If you take this tour, you should request Eddy because he will give you information you won't receive with another guide and he is extremely entertaining and considerate along the way. Also, the semi-private tour with arena floor is totally worth it. Head of the line privileges and a small group make this tour even more excellent.

Brilliant tour with very knowledgable guide. Went up to the Palatine Hill first then across to the colosseum. Through all the security checks very quickly with time to ask lots of questions. Nice small group size so no risk of losing the group.
