A really enjoyable way to spend an hour and a half in Florence. The guide clearly had a genuine love for the subject and made sure everyone in the group could see and hear properly throughout, even in some of the narrower rooms. Learning about the Medici family while actually standing in the rooms they once used made the history feel much more real than reading about it in a guidebook. The frescoes by Vasari were a definite highlight and something photos really do not do justice to. Would recommend to anyone wanting a proper introduction to the city's history.

My husband and I had booked a few tours during our time in Florence and this one stood out as the best. Our guide, Fabrizio, was so passionate about the history of the palace that it felt more like listening to a friend tell stories than a formal tour. We loved learning about how the building changed use over the centuries, from Medici residence to seat of government. The small group size meant we could actually ask questions along the way and get proper answers rather than just being herded through. The view from the terrace at the end was the perfect way to finish.

Unfortunately we arrived about ten minutes after the meeting time due to traffic and the group had already left without us, so we ended up missing the tour entirely. Really disappointing since we had been looking forward to this for weeks and it was our only day in Florence, and we were not offered a refund or a way to join a later group.

Great value for the time, we got straight in past the queue and the guide kept things moving at a good pace without ever feeling rushed. Learned a lot about the Medici family that I had no idea about before, and the frescoes in the Salone dei 500 are honestly incredible in person. Worth doing early in your trip so you have some context for the rest of the city.

This tour completely exceeded our expectations. Skipping the line alone was worth it given how long the queue looked outside, but the real highlight was our guide walking us through the private rooms of the Grand Dukes with so much detail and personality. Standing in the Salone dei 500 under Vasari's frescoes was honestly one of those moments where you just stop and stare for a while. If you're visiting Florence and want to actually understand what you're looking at rather than just snapping photos, this is the way to do it.

Our guide was honestly the best part of this whole trip so far. He knew so much about the Medici family that he barely needed notes, and he had this way of telling the stories like he was genuinely excited to be sharing them with us, not just reciting facts. When we got to the big frescoed hall he actually paused and let us take it in before explaining anything, which I really appreciated. I would book another tour with this company just to get another guide like him.

I was a little worried this would feel rushed since it was only ninety minutes but our guide made every minute count. She had such a warm way about her and kept checking that everyone was following along, even stopping to answer a few random questions from my son that had nothing to do with the palace. You could tell she genuinely loved her job and wasn't just going through the motions. By the end we felt like we had made a friend rather than just been shown around by a stranger.

Skipped the queue which was already a win, but our guide is what really made it worthwhile. He had this dry sense of humour that kept the group laughing even while explaining some pretty heavy history, and he clearly knew way more than he actually told us since he kept getting asked follow up questions and always had an answer ready. My husband and I have done a fair few guided tours over the years and this guide was easily one of the best we have had. She had such a natural storytelling style that we completely lost track of time, which almost never happens on these things. She also seemed to genuinely enjoy answering our questions rather than treating them as an interruption, and she remembered small details about our group throughout the tour which was a nice touch. We left feeling like we understood the Medici family properly instead of just knowing a few facts about them.

We did this as part of our first morning in Florence and it turned out to be a wonderful introduction to the city. Our guide had a lovely way of explaining the history of the Medici family that made it easy to follow even though there was a lot of information to take in. The apartments of Eleonora of Toledo were particularly beautiful and it was nice to have a smaller group so we could actually get close to see the details without being pushed around. The terrace at the end was a lovely way to finish, looking out over the rooftops of Florence.
