The Eiffel Tower, A Symbol of Power and Paris
The Eiffel Tower was born a rebel. She’s the most photographed woman in the world but if the critics had their way she would never have made her debut. Big, brash, and strong, she was like nothing anyone had ever seen before.
Artists around the country worked tirelessly to stop her construction and then to bring her down but she would defy them all. It should have come as no surprise - the man behind her made a career of bucking the establishment; and Gustave Eiffel’s great Tower would eventually be his crowning achievement.
Climb the 674 Steps to the First and Second Tiers
As you climb the steps to the first level, you will marvel as City of Light emerges before your eyes and your guides shares the fascinating background of the architectural wonder that made Gustave Eiffel famous. On the first level, which is not regularly included on standard elevator tours, you will have time to take pictures or walk on the 188 ft (57 m) high glass floor.
Take in Stunning Views of the City of Light
Your guide will then lead you up the steps again, to witness more incredible views on the way to the 2nd level observation deck. Here, you'll be able to take in more of the city's most iconic landmarks including the Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysses, and Notre Dame while enjoying your guide's insightful and entertaining commentary.
Once you are finished admiring the spectacular views, you can choose to take the stairs or the elevator back to the ground floor to continue your Parisian adventure!
